Say hello, wave goodbye

Well, where on earth did that week go?? Oh yes, I have been at work. Told you my life was exciting?!

So, the girls have finished at Holiday Club, I have the day off tomorrow, and we will be packing up to go sailing for the weekend!
The weather forecast doesn't look too bad, until Sunday at least, so we are only staying at the club for 2 nights. The thought of trying to dry out a wet Trailer Tent for the second time in two weeks was just too much: so we made the executive decision this evening that we would come home a day early.

Our sailing has been somewhat 'patchy' this season: so we are taking absolutely every bit of watersports kit that we own, in the hope that we will all get out on the water at some point over the weekend.

There is also the small matter of a Novice Regatta, which takes place on Saturday. The year before last, I crewed, and Gloria helmed, and frankly it was horrid. Blowing a gale. We only capsized three times, which was pretty good considering: but enough to put her off sailing for over a year. Last year, I was on Rescue Assistant duty (sitting in a small powerboat, not doing a lot), which was really interesting, but very frustrating, as there were only 4 entrants, and I could have sailed the socks off all of them!

Mind you, tactics will be needed: I don't actually want to win. Racing operates on a Handicap system. Once you have won a Regatta (as far as I can make out this is the posh name for '4 races on the lake on the same day') as a Novice, technically you become an Intermediate. Once you are an Intermediate, they think that you have a clue what you are doing, and it immediately becomes harder to win anything! Confused yet??? So, I will craftily eye up the competition from behind my bacon buttie, and make a decision on the morning.

Now, off to brush up on those Racing Rules, just in case......

...and the competition consisted of.......two Juniors (fourteen year old boys) sailing Toppers! No Novices to race against. Shame. I had to have another cup of tea instead.
